Male’ City Mayor Adam Azim has expressed deep concern and sadness over a sudden, widespread power outage that cut off electricity to residents across the capital city of Male’ and Hulhumale’. Emphasizing how deeply everyday life is intertwined with power services, the Mayor noted that being deprived of electricity caused significant disruption and distress to the local population.
In a statement posted to social media platform X, Mayor Azim highlighted that the unexpected power failure dealt a heavy blow to the routine daily lives of the citizens living in both districts. He particularly drew attention to the vulnerabilities faced by senior citizens and people with disabilities, noting with deep regret that many found themselves completely trapped in high-rise buildings with no viable way to move up or down due to stopped elevators.
