MALE: The government has issued a strong challenge in response to former President Mohamed Nasheed’s statement that a no-confidence vote against President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will be taken to change the administration before the end of this year.
In response to these remarks by President Nasheed, “Ras Online” Journalist questioned the government during press conference regarding their official stance on Nasheed’s statements. Answering the question, the government spokesperson, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu), stated that if President Nasheed is capable of accomplishing that, he should go ahead with the effort.
”There are about six months left until the end of this year. Let’s wait and see if that can be achieved, shall we? But if it fails, will he also be held accountable?” the spokesperson asked.
The spokesperson further noted that members of the media would be monitoring this closely, adding that if the government is not changed within this year as President Nasheed claimed, then that same question should be posed to him during the very first press conference held in January next year.
