KOLAMAAFUSHI: The Baahath Sports Academy, an active sports organization operating in Gaafu Alifu Atoll Kolamaafushi, has announced plans to host its first-ever “Children’s Cup” to coincide with this year’s Eid al-Adha holidays. The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 27 to June 31. According to Shahamath Haneef, the President of Baahath Sports Academy, the primary objective of this tournament is to foster a competitive spirit and promote sportsmanship among the academy’s students, while also providing them with an excellent platform to showcase their talents.
In addition to developing youth talent, Shahamath highlighted that the academy places a high priority on creating a fun and comfortable environment where children can enjoy their time during the festive Eid holidays. Since its official registration with the relevant ministry as a sports association in 2021, Baahath Sports Academy has been a highly active organization in Kolamaafushi, dedicated to youth sports development.
The academy currently conducts handball training programs for girls and offers football training sessions tailored for boys of various age groups. Highlighting their recent achievements, the academy noted that two of its students participated in an international academy-focused tournament held in Thailand this past January, where they achieved remarkably notable results. Such tournaments are expected to provide a significant boost and encouragement for talented children living in local islands to advance further in sports.
